Arkansas District & City Court Clerks Association

November 2002

From the Presidents Desk

Welcome to our November District & City Court Clerks Certification Meeting. When we people join together, it is a great time to make contacts and meet new friends. In a way we are a very special group.

As the Holidays once again approach us, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving, A Merry Christmas, and a very prosperous New Year.

There is nothing permanent in life except " change", and I am sure that all of you realize that we are facing many new changes this coming year. I feel that it is very important for all of us to work together as a group and pay special attention to our speakers, because after all, they took of their time and effort to be here for us.

The new Legislative Updates are in. Please make a point of picking up your copy at the Registration Table.

Planning a turkey for Thanksgiving or Christmas?

Think about this: get a bag full of Morton "Tender Quick", available at most stores. Pour a cup full into a container, fill with enough water to cover your bird and pour in enough ice cubes, to keep it cool for 12 to 24 hours. Remove and rinse. Smoke, or roast as usual. The meat will come out delightfully pink, tender and juicy, and you will not taste the salt. "Like to hear from you on this one".

Let’s talk about coffee:

A German housewife, Militta Benz, invented the first coffee filter. Tired of brewing coffee directly in the water, she took some blotting paper, put it in a brass pot that she had poked holes in, and poured the boiling water over the coffee, through the filter, and into the pot. It was the first drip coffee maker, and the Benz family began manufacturing Melitta Coffee Makers.

Sparkling clear windows: Try wiping them with a coffee filter instead of a paper towel and eliminate the lint.

NO SPLATTER MICROWAVING:

Cover you dish with a coffee filter before popping it into the microwave. Not only will it cook faster, but also you will never have to clean food splatters off the inside of your mic. again.

DRIP CATCHER: Popsicles or ice cream on a stick leak? Just poke the stick of a frozen treat through a coffee filter, they will catch the drip, and it will save clothes and rugs.
